It is an Ocean Race top level sailing aiming to support and protect the seas, the environment, the nature.
It is indeed a unique race as best sailors of the world, sail and reach through some of the most remote parts of the planet that are rarely accessible for scientific research - to gather valuable information about the health of the ocean.
June 27, the final Ocean Summit, ending the Genoa Process, will lead to the draft principles of the Declaration of Ocean Rights that will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, in September 2023.
The teams are provided with onboard science programme, they play a key role in helping to improve understanding about our marine world and the threats it faces.
The Ocean Race is contributing scientific data to the Ocean Decade Odyssey project which is an endorsed project of the UN Decade of Ocean Science (2021-2030).
