The Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA) is a global community of academics and practitioners that seeks to build an intellectual community around the ideas of human development and the capability approach, and relate these ideas to the policy arena. The association promotes research within many disciplines, ranging from economics to philosophy, development studies, health, education, law, government, sociology, and more. Our members live in over 70 countries worldwide. We are building an interactive map of members which can be viewed here - more members will be added on a continual basis.
The Association’s main activities include the organization of an annual international conference, the facilitation of a range of thematic groups and regional networks and the publication of the quarterly Journal of Human Development and Capabilities, a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Taylor & Francis.
moreSome materials, such as videos of lectures, conference papers and material under copyright, are available to members only. Membership also comes with other benefits, including an annual subscription to the Journal of Human Development and Capabilities.
