Abstract

The inadequate management of solid waste and poor urban cleanliness, combined with precarious drainage and stormwater management services, not only incur costs to public coffers but also detrimentally affect the well-being of the population, leading to a decline in quality of life and the sustainability of natural resources. Within this complex and multifaceted issue, this research specifically addresses the challenge of establishing regulatory processes for services that produce impacts extending beyond their immediate users.

The scholarship has been awarded under the FAPESP Public Policy Research Program - PPPP. Collaborating researchers from UFABC, along with the Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of São Paulo (ARSESP), are integral to this project. The overarching objective of this proposal is to establish an efficient flow of information and decision-making to enhance ARSESP's actions regarding regulatory guidelines for urban solid waste management and drainage services. Additionally, it aims to improve the planning, monitoring, and control of these regulatory processes.

The post-doctoral scholarship spans up to 24 months. Interested applicants can register by completing the form available at https://forms.gle/SBSEgDv61LTp7p4w5.
