Ms. Lucy QUINN

- Position: Student
- Department: Law
- Affiliation: University of Sydney
- Biographical info: Lucy is a legal scholar whose work focuses on women's rights, international development and access to justice. Lucy's PhD thesis (to be submitted in 2025) proposes a framework for the amelioration of barriers that inhibit the use of protective legislation by survivor/victims of domestic violence. The framework Lucy proposes, which is heavily informed by the capability approach, looks at barriers arising from economic, social and cultural factors. It is also intersectional in that it considers the ways in which the multiple social identities of individual women impact on their perceptions and behaviours in respect of the law. Lucy has extensive teaching experience, having designed, coordinated and taught courses at the universities of Sydney, Melbourne, NSW and the South Pacific. She is particularly interested in clinical legal education and legal ethics. Prior to her move into academia, Lucy spent more than a decade working as a legal professional. She has worked as a lawyer both in private practice and in-house at the University of Melbourne. Lucy also has extensive experience developing, implementing, managing and evaluating pro bono and community engagement programs in the corporate, tertiary education and development sectors.
