HDCA Writing Workshop
September 19 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm UTC+2
SUNDAY 19 SEPTEMBER, ANTWERP
9.30AM TO 5.00PM
Melanie Walker and Melis Cin
WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR?
Early career researchers participants who have registered for the 2022 HDCA Conference, and who have completed their PhD in the last 5 years. They should have a journal paper they are/planning to work on.
THE WORKSHOP HAS TWO PARTS.
PART ONE 9.30-12.30
After introductions and some general discussion on writing for journals (about 60 mins), for 2 hours people will work on their own conference proposal/presentation and begin work on turning it into a paper; choosing and justifying a journal, drafting a title and abstract, and showing how it would speak to an international audience. OR people can work up an idea for a journal paper – something they already have in mind.
People will work in pairs to share and comment on each other's work. We will try and match people to others who are working ion similar areas. If there is time people can go further and set out the structure of the paper.
We will have lunch together and also mingle with the participants and presenters in the Summer School running in the same building.
PART TWO 2.00-5.00
Q and A where people first discuss the challenges, they face in writing for journal publication in groups of four, and then a plenary at which we gather main challenges for feedback to TGs, Regional networks, 2023 conference committee, HDCA etc.
This is then followed by people presenting their proposed paper in two groups (one facilitator for each group) for feedback from the group.
