Call for chapters, expressions of interest: Understanding the lived experiences of energy poverty in the Global North and South

Dear Colleagues,

We seek abstracts for chapters to be considered for inclusion in a book project entitled “Understanding the lived experiences of energy poverty in the Global North and South”. There is a strong expression of interest from Routledge to publish this edited volume as part of one of its ongoing book series.

This book aims to provoke a conversation that broadens our understanding of the lived experience of energy poverty at the household level across developed and developing contexts. We seek chapter proposals that engage with this domain focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on the following themes:

• Methods to identify energy-poor households, measure energy poverty and characterise those most at risk or vulnerable to energy poverty, including instances of so-called “hidden energy poverty”.
• Differences in the lived experiences of energy poverty in the Global North and South.
• Best practices for supporting energy-poor households across regions.
• Energy poverty and net zero policies.
• Actions to reduce energy poverty and achieve SDG7.

If you are working on these topics and are interested in contributing to the volume, please send us a brief chapter proposal (working title and abstract of approximately 250 words) with an explanation of what you intend to explore in your chapter to Dr Paola Velasco-Herrejón at by Thursday, 25 September 2022.

The proposed timeline is as follows:

• 25th Sept – Abstract submission
• Sep 30th – Confirmation to authors and proposal sent for feedback
• Oct 7th – Book proposal submitted to Routledge
• We expect the final chapter submission to be in mid-December. However, this is subject to the approval of the proposal by Routledge.

Best wishes,
