- Biographical info: Thomas Stephens is studying for an ESRC-funded PhD in Social Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, affiliated to the Centre for the Analysis of Social Exclusion. He is also a Teaching Fellow at the LSE’s School of Public Policy, teaching on the Masters’ in Public Policy programme. His PhD research is focussed on applying the Capability Approach to the measurement of multi-dimensional quality of work. Prior to academia, he had a 10-year career in public affairs and public policymaking, including periods working in the UK Parliament and serving as a Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills in a London Borough. His professional and research interest therefore spans every aspect of the quality of work - from its conceptualisation; to its measurement; and finally to the implementation of the public policies necessary to improve it.
