Acerca de Sabina van der Veen
I currently work as a postdoc researcher at Leiden University, and my work centers on the intersection of the Capability Approach and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), both regarding the understanding and application of these frameworks in research, policy, and practice. Before joining Leiden University, I worked as a researcher and teacher at AmsterdamUMC, in the fields of medical ethics and moral case deliberations.
From 2019 until 2022, I also worked as a coordinator for the EIP-Active Healthy Ageing Amsterdam Metropolitan Area within the Amsterdam Economic Board. In this role I fostered collaboration among diverse stakeholders, fostering innovation to enhance the well-being and health of the older persons in our society.
I have also served as an advisor for the Advisory Committee on Innovation in Healthcare Professions and Education at the National Health Care Institute. In this role, I collaborated closely with stakeholders from the healthcare, welfare, and education sectors to develop policy briefs addressing future care requirements and developments. Prior to my academic career, I worked as a (pediatric) physical therapist in various healthcare settings.
