Congratulations to incoming Editor, Alejandra (Sandra) Boni Aristizábal, whose term will begin in September 2023.  Sandra is a Full Professor at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, and deputy director of the INGENIO Research Institute (CSIC-UPV). She lectures in the Master of Development Cooperation at UPV. Her research analyzes the relationships between human development and capabilities, transformative innovation and higher education. She has used participatory methodologies to co-design, implement and evaluate policy initiatives in the field of innovation, development education and participatory policy. She also has wide experience in the development aid ambit with links with public and non-governmental actors. She has more than 130 international and national publications in the following areas: human development, innovation, education, participation, technology and sustainability (papers, books and book chapters.) From 2011-2022, she was the PI of 14 research projects from international, national and local grant calls. She is the Former Vice President of the International Development Ethics Association and Extraordinary Professor of the University of the Free State, South Africa. She has been visiting researcher in African, American, European and UK universities.

Sandra has been active in the HDCA since 2005, presenting papers regularly at the annual conferences and involving herself in various thematic groups. She is strongly committed to the aims and vision of the HDCA. She has gained experience with the Journal of Human Development and Capabilities through her role as an Associate Editor since 2010.  She is an experienced researcher, writer and journal reviewer with wide international networks and has considerable experience managing projects which will translate well into the Journal Editor’s role. She is a fluent speaker of English, Spanish and Italian with knowledge of French and Portuguese.
