About Jacqueline Goldin

I am a 'numerate' anthropologist, working in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of the Western Cape where my passion is citizen science and embracing ideas of social justice, gender equity and emotional well-being. Currently I am working in one of the poorest provinces of South Africa, Limpopo, where small scale farmers and other volunteers are gathering data from their wells - a process of empowerment and education - thus contributing to the National Groundwater Archive as 'scientists.' I have worked for over 20 years in multi-disciplinary teams (hydrologists, geologists, groundwater experts etc.) where my focus is on emotional well-being and better understanding through participatory action research the way in which emotions guide social action.
